This makes a big difference. Assuming he gathered the coins from circulation his age determines the survival grade of the coins. My dad was born in 1916 and his nickels were in rough shape. My great aunt was born in 1900 and collected from her first job in her teens. The difference in grades is staggering. And neither ever bought a coin. "Tootsie's" Barbers were the foundation of my love affair with the series, and only because many were in higher grades. Report this Post to the Staff
