Poll Question
Hey All! I am curious to know about your collections. How many Different World Coins do you have? That means every single different variety of coin that is Not from your home country. (ex: indian, wheat, steel, Memorial cent are 4 different coins)

quote: that is Not from your home country
This is hard to go by for me. I'm not living in my original country, and there was also a third country in between the original and my current one. I still consider the US home as well as Canada. Australia was just a long stopover. Taking that in mind, though, doesn't change my number a whole lot as I collect all the would coins I can get my hands on, and should have another package arriving shortly that will boost that number. I really should count one of these days, if for no other reason than an accurate inventory.

I have enough world coins, different ones, to open my own World Coin Store! If I could ever be convinced to part with any of them, at least. I know right now I've got a hundred different world coins spread over just my desk.. that doesn't include the albums, the boxed 2x2s, the containers with coins spilling out of them. I didn't actually count everything, but for a general estimate I'll go with over 10000+ I've still got more on the way.

That is amazing! Do you have any or all cataloged to know what you have and what you need? Just out of curiosity...what does one have to do to be put in your will?

I have 20 but I have goals for starting 20th century type sets for Canada, Ireland, & Poland. But most important the first coin I want is my avatar.

Let me tool around with my database for a minute... there.
Current total number of coins, notes, tokens, medals, and other numismatic items in my collection: 7462
Less number of Australian coins: 497 Less tokens, medals & ephemera: 365
That leaves 6600 coins and banknotes (haven't derived an easy way to separate the paper from the coins yet...)
Note that these numbers include different dates and mintmarks; for me, those are keepers, too. If you count those as "duplicates", then the number probably will drop below 5000. There's no easy way to extract that number out of the database, either.

I don't have the faintest, but I do know that what ever they are, the majority will be Mexican! that has been my "passion" for many years, long before starting US coins. Dick

I'm in the 3k-4k range, still working on bringing it down. At one time, I was well over 10k, but have been slowly paring off a lot. Eventually, I hope to get it down to about 1000 or so, focused on my core collection of Yugoslavia & the Slavic states.
