Hey guys, this is my first post and I'm a bit of a newbie at collecting. I recently received two star note $50 notes from my brother. I've seen plenty of star notes, but these were in sequence. I've never seen that before nor have I ever heard of it. Is that rare? I could use all the information I can get. Thanks!
What makes a star note rare is it's run size. These ones have a pretty big run size of 3 200 000. I'm not sure what the premium for these would be though.
Keep in mind, like normal banknotes, each star note (should) be sequential. There is more than likely a JG01140071. If you like it, keep it
I am a newbie to newer currency so I can't tell you if it is rare or common though someone on this forum will likely know the answer to that part of your question.
Looking through Heritage Auction archives I found a lot that sold 3 consecutive $50 star notes for $184. The high denom of the note makes it hard to gain a large premium above face.
In my opinion, there really is no wrong way to collect. But * notes in sequence would be an easy "yes" into my book. It appears that these were produced for straps rather than sheets so my guess would be these once came from a full strap of *'s.
I got some uncirculated star notes here in Switzerland from the bank. I was so happy to get them in Switzerland. I never got one in the USA when I was there on holidays. I decided to keep them even the run site is 1,920,000
