Hello, This is my first post here in these forums and it's a doozy. While working at a casino, I was able to obtain a miscut $100, series 2009A. It is also a star note. Hopefully my uploads will look good here. As you can see there is a huge miscut and on the top of the bill, there looks to be the edge of the actual printing paper used at the mint. It has a gold stripe on top of a bronze stripe. On the back, it is a yellow stripe on top of a red stripe. I have looked all over the internet and ebay for any help whatsoever. I even contacted some local coin/currency/stamp businesses to no avail. I am looking for #1 the rarity of said bill and #2 a possible value. Any help is greatly appreciated no matter how small. Thanks!!

to the Community wegman99. The strip at the top of the note is what is called selvage and is normally cut off at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Rarity? I don't know another member on here found one with selvage but no miscut on either side. I don't have any idea of the value of your note--though there are members on here who can tell you that. -MV

Nice find. I'm sure myself and others will say send it in for grading / authentication / attribution and then sell it on ebay as fast as you can before more surface while the market is hot or warm for the new 100's

Another star note error to go along with the 2006 mismatch serial number 1s. Now they can't even print and cut star notes out correctly.

I would cancel the auction and send it in for grading as other members suggested.

Getting it graded by PMG or PCGS could bring a large amount more than whatever you will get from just throwing it up on ebay in plastic sleeve. It of course requires an investment of time money and effort but I've seen graded errors fetch over double what non graded errors will. Food for thought.

New "C" note errors are tough. I'd expect your note to sell somewhere in the 750$ to 1500$ range on ebay as is. If it were "slabbed" by one of the TPG companies it might then sell in the 2K$ range. Ya just never know with these things.

Looks like it is going good, with over a day left still.

Lots of lookers and some serious bidding going on. Over 350 page hits and several different back and forth bidders keeps it interesting. It's probably on a bunch of watch lists, too.
I think the fact that it's also a star (replacement) adds more value to it . Any C-note error is tough..... A nextgen C-note STAR major error like this is super cool.
The serious bidders will show up at the last minute. I think you'll be very happy after the smoke clears.

Wegman99.....
WOW! It blew by my "guesstimate" of 750-1500$ and ended at over 1600$. I think you did well.
Just curious.... Did you have any offers to end the auction early? When that happens you know it's got some serious appeal!
Congrats!

I was watching this one as well. Can't help wondering what it would have sold for had it been graded. Still, I would think you are happy with it. I sure would be. CONGRATS!

I think grading this bill would have hurt it's value, there should be at least 4 more identical error bills? Not too sure of US currency production.

All you need are two people that want it to make a market. If other errors from this sheet turned up I think it would only enhance the value and make it more appealing.
As far as others that might be out there? If these were printed on 32 subject sheets then at least three others HAD this same error. What is not known is if those other three were tagged and pulled during the inspection process.
Only time will tell.
