I just posted this in the Information section, but I thought anyone interested in Shield nickels would like to see this link here. There is precious little info on these that I have seen.

Susan, there's some info on them in various books, but there's practically fewer collectors of them out there than there are books. Okay, that's an exaggeration. But, the only series that compares to how unloved Shield nickels are.....are....Three Cent Nickels. Actually, I think Shield nickels edge out 3CN as being the least desirable series. Funny enough...I kind of like them. I always like the underdog I guess. I don't collect them...yet.

The Shield nickel is a cryptogram for the "Stars & Bars."

I've been using shieldnickels.net for a while and it's a good resource for Shield nickels.

I guess I like the underdogs, because I started resently collecting 3CN and Shield nickels.
