I can't think of a coin this size & weight. Any guesses?

My catalogs are all packed away (moving) but weren't there some British coins with that shape?

It's too big for a pre decimal threepence, and that's all I can think of in brass.

reminds me of a weight for the types of scales seen on old corner stores ( In the days when you could ask for products by weight)

8.7 grams does not convert to a whole number regardless of which system you use, ounces, troy ounces, pennyweights, grains etc. So probably not a weight. Sides are curvilinear and designed to roll.
