First of all. I apologize if the German symbol on the bars offends anyone. That is not my intent. I just need your help to determine if these bars are real or fake.

I made a trade for these bars about a year ago from another fellow silver bar collector. He insisted these bars were real. I believe he said he owned these bars for about 5 years. He said he purchased them off another collector who bought them from a WWII Vet. The Vet picked them off a German soldier during the war.

In my opinion this sounds like just a good story. I know these bars can be made to look real. However they look completely different from any other faked german silver bars I've seen on ebay.

I have been a silver collector for several years now and I believe these bars are made from real silver. I really don't want to do an acid test on them. The bar on the left weighs 46.3 grams and the bar on the right weighs 50.6 grams. They are indeed odd weights.

I added a Prospectors Gold and Gems 1oz bar in the last two photos for size comparison and to show that newer poured bars can be made to look old. PG&G is in no way affiliated with these German bars.

Let me know what you guys think. Has anyone seen something like this before? Real or Fake?

I think that 999 fine is more of a modern notation.

It wouldn't hurt at all to do an acid test.

It seems to me I've seen that Nazi Eagle posted on some items on this forum before. I search for them and see if I can find them.

Edit:

Ah yes, I remember the thread now: https://goccf.com/t/57504

of course they are fake bars. the counterstam of eagle and swastika has been used by the WA.A (the former german "WAffenAmt". In later years they have been used to counterfeit silverbars.originally, the have been used by the "Waffenwerke Brünn" or Česká zbrojovka.
