I fooled with the color and intensity a little and you can see the shape of the eight a little better. 1928 for sure...

Gary, You are not alone!! The PRO I told you about specilizes in die varieties. I am taking his opinion on this coin, because he think's it's a 22 with a weak D

If it's a 22 weak "d", wouldn't you be able to verify with other contributing marks on the rest of the coin? This is definitely a question, not a statement. I'm just curious as I thought when you have a "special" coin, just about every known nuance is noted somewhere in someone's library...

Try getting it certified. If they say it's a 1922 weak D (or Plain), it's worth the TPG costs. BTW, if you send to ICG & it gets body-bagged, they don't charge you (except a $5 administrative fee). http://www.icgcoin.com/Default.aspx?tabid=655

Your PRO needs to look at the pictures here. This is either the strangest case of wishful thinking I've ever seen, or someone is just kidding us. I enhanced further. Compare it to the shots above. Of course you are entitled to spend money slabbing a really worn out 1928 if you want to.

I very highly doubt 1922, and even at that the coin is a FR-2 (it's not even AG because the date must be readable for AG). At FR-2 anything but a key date coin is worth right around face value, and even a key date coin would be next to impossible to sell. So what's the point here? Just a guessing game nobody knows the real answer to?

Hello, Maybe it is just a game, Just like all the no date indianhead nickel's. You wish you could see just a little more of that date! As to this coin, If there is a tiny chance that it could be a 22, Maybe I'm wrong, but my thought's are that a FR-2 22D are better than no 22d at all! Sorry if I bothered anyone with this coin! I think it is obviously a 192 AD coin. This was made by the early Babaloanians or Romans that forsaw the coming of Lincoln. If there is the Coloseum on the reverse, it is the Roman version. I really don't see anything after the 2 and if it was another 2, it is way to shot to be able to be brought back.
