Double Sided Quarter

Ok anyone ever hear of this?

My daughter works with someone that gave her a quarter to ask me if it is real.

It is a Washington quarter on one side the Washington P Mint year 1983

On the other side Washington P Mint 1987

This quarter looks real it is warn some like it has been in circulation for years.

Can this be real seems funny being double sided and five years apart in dates.

It's not real. It's called a Magician's coin. If you look carefully, you will see where the host coin was milled out to hold the turned down side. There will be a cut around and near the rim on one side where the two coins were pressed into each other.

Thanks for reminding me. There is a magic shop not far from me and I've been thinking buying some of those there. Should be a lot cheaper than on line. They are great for flipping for coffee. Only got caught once.

Must be getting popular. That magic type store in my area is out of all two faced and two tailed coins now. He has a waiting list of many. Available may be 2 sided cents, nickels, dimes, quarters and even halves. Also, those type of coins come in a cent/dime or nickel/quarter meaning it is a cent on one side and dime on the other or the nickel on one side and quarter on the other. I'll keep on trying that place for some of each.

Probably gets spent accidentally as to the eye it appears to be normal. It pays if you have one to keep it separate from your change.
