Since I got bit by the coin bug a few months back...I seem to have developed a problem.
I find myself going through my change, my wife's change, change in my car, change in the work van, co-workers change. I take my loop everywhere.
When I see a nice coin, I set it aside, if it's really nice, MS anything, I put it in a flip, no matter the year.
Is this normal?

What problem are you talking about? Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Yep - sounds pretty normal. It'll fade a bit, but some things will stay intense. In the meantime, enjoy the finds!

Yeah One50 we all go through this. I've been doing it non stop for 30+ years. I got bit when I was 10. Just a wee little coin hunter.

Do what we all do. Try to convince the Wife that it keeps you out of the bars.

You know your wife loves you when she sets aside the new/shiny coins at the checkout and gives them to you when she gets home. If she doesn't and your supper starts tasting funny you should stop going through her change.

You have found the right support group.... as long as you don't mind to discover how deep this rabbit hole actually goes......
Hope you enjoy the hobby!

I always wonder what cashiers think when they hand me my change and I start picking through it.
"Can you you believe that guy? He stood there and counted the change. Like I was going to short him a few pennies or something."

Well, you know what they say, the first step is admitting you have a problem!

I've always been told that it is, in fact, correct to stand there and count the change before leaving (in case it's slightly wrong - accidents do happen). I've started doing it even before I started looking for shiny coins in there, actually.

Quote: Is this normal? What you are describing is just a very mild case, but don't worry it is no over. Next comes coin roll hunting and/or metal detecting. This will be followed by hour and hours of digging through junk boxes (sometimes you will directly move on to this stage). What comes after everyone keeps quiet about. You have to experience that for yourself.

It would be a problem if you did not do any of those things.
