I got a shipment in from Wizard coin today. One of the things I ordered was a Capitol coin holder for my gold Indian. First impression, I like it .. but would liked to have the nice box they use to come in. I have less than half the coins for a set and with all the other sets I have going, this will be a longer term project. I took couple pictures, but just got done working in the yard .. and don't want to put the coin in until I am nice and relaxed.

Be very, very careful putting gold $2.50 Indian coins into this or any other Capital Plastics holder. If the coin fits too tight it will completely flatten the edge lettering damaging the coin. Be sure it fits down in the hole far enough where it does not have to be pushed in when the top panel is screwed on.
That is also something to check before buying a $2.50 Indian you do not want to pay top dollar for a damaged coin especially the 1911-D.

Got the coins sitting in the holder, and I like it. Almost want to take the one out of my 7070 .... just kidding. But I do think I have another one somewhere.

That sure does look purdy!
If the one in the 7070 is a date you can put in this holder now why not put it in here and replace the one in the 7070 later? You still have to buy one either way and the one in the 7070 will be a duplicate date eventually anyway.

I think so too .. but it will take some time to fill this set, that 1911 D will be a killer. -------------------------------------------------- I did find another one, but it was a 1925 D, which I had in the holder. So I did switch out the 1929 that was in the 7070. now I am at 7. If I had a half of one .. I would be half done One thing not happy about, is I am missing half of one of the plastic screws. Not sure if I dropped it, or it just was not in the package. Either I will find it .. or will buy another screw.

Those $2.50 gold Indian Quarter Eagles are a coin that is affordable and unique. The Half Eagle Indian Heads are cool also but the 1929 is not affordable for most collectors. A few of the other half eagles are not really affordable in the higher grades either. The quarter eagle is just an ideal gold coin to collect because of the mintage for all of them is pretty low and for 1911-D it is very low, yet the price is not too high. It is only .12 oz. of gold but the average collector could complete a set. I just like that coin.

I agree. This is a set of gold coins that the average collector could complete, with time and planning.
For me the 1911 D is a coin that will take some planning to purchase.

Don't settle for a "filler" on the 11-D - you will never enjoy looking at it, and you'll perobably lose money when you sell. Bad combo. Wait until you can afford one that fits with the rest of the set and it will grow in value.

I hope it is ok to post a update. I have been working on this set for 8 months now, I knew it would take some time. But I did buy one today 1910. I went to a coin shop I had stopped in last week. I had saw a 1834 VF quarter and went back to buy it. But is was gone .....dang So looking around I saw they had a 1910 $2.50 Indian. And worked out a deal. Now I have five empty holes...
