Packing to move to Florida...had to pack the coins. Had no idea how much this was going to take.
16 strong boxes filled with rolls and bags at 225-300 pounds each. 14 "book" boxes containing 60 pounds each - about two bags worth each. 25 canvas bags full of unsearched wheats. a dozen or so binders full of flips containing the master collection.
None of this includes the books and other research materials, microscopes, copy stand, camera equipment, lighting, computer, monitors, etc.
I guess one could verifiably say I'm hooked. Nearly 6,500 pounds of coins alone. 99.95% cents, over 90% are pre-zinc era. That's about 800,000 coins worth $26K in copper melt value alone.
I easily have more Lincoln cents than any single branch bank in the southern half of Missouri.
Moral to the story - if you've got what I've got think twice before accepting a job 1,100 miles from home.

The artwork, research, and books will continue, albeit on a slightly slower pace. Problem with trying to do those things for a living is that they don't make enough money. If I had a month where the bills were paid and I had money left over I felt lucky. Now I will make enough monthly to pay the bills, save the other half of the check, and still have some time to devote to the hobby I love. By the way, the job is in coins...advertising director and numismatist for John Maben Rare Coins in Sarasota.

Best of luck in Florida. Hope you researched that company well since your moving there for that job. I'd like to see the movers lifting that stuff. Stay away from the Huricane things. All that weight is not to strange though. When the Hot Wheel Cars were a boom someone I know had to move and it was estimated that he had over 3,000 pounds of those little cars. Probably still does.

Chuck,
Wow you have lot cents. Your saying you could not make money selling coins and needed an new job. Since you have lots invortary like 800000 worth cents. Why not sell them and keep buying more and more . When I car dealer I owned 30 cars and trucks and sold maybe 10 to 15 cars per monlth. I would buy more and more each day if could.
I have seen your store and was wanting to buy your cents to fill my books up before. The problem I saw with your store . You dont sell complete sets, 5000 unsearched bags of cents, proof coins, bu rolls of coins 59 thru 2007 , very few slabbed coins from Pgcs like 1972, 1983, 1995, 1955 double dies, 1970 small dates, 1909 s.v.b.d. 34 Thur 58 bu rolls , or 09 Thur 33 circulated rolls of coins I need since I am set builder.
Your store sells lots varties I never heard of . Since I am set builder lots guys want to buy say bu 1982 small date coin or bu coin 1968 s cent.
If you look at coin mags they run ads each monlth selling 107 59 Thur 2007 cent set for say 19.95 or 100 different wheat pennies for 17.95, Unsearched wheat bags for 200 to 350 each, coins for 25 cents each on old common date stuff.
You get the idea if you read those coin mags. You were only dealer I heard about you even cared about all varties but some guys are just want sets or singles to build sets. You get the idea the Dansco or Whitman companies dont list them in books like you sell.
Have fun with your new job and I hope it works good for you.

454SS - I understand and appreciate your comments, however I am but one person and have not had the time to build up a large inventory - that takes a lot of time, and at a couple of dollars per coin it's not something a person can make a living at...and I refuse to get into nickels, dimes, and quarters just to make money.
The store I have is to sell extra stuff I have as I find it. It was never intended to be a 'living maker'. My living was to come from writing books, developing websites, and doing art work. The store was just a means of thinning out the extra stuff I have to get it out of the way.

Just carl - The company I am moving to work for has been around for years, and the owner has been in the business since 1978. I highly doubt him going down before a lot of others go down. The money offered was good enough to pay my bills off in a matter of months and give me all the income I need within a year to move myself back home if it doesn't work out.

Where would you store all those?
Basement? Garage?
It seems like that much weight could possibly do damage to an average house unless it was on a slab.
That is a really mind boggling amount. Hats off to you.

Haha, that's extraordinary! I've been collecting for about 16 months and I have 296 *official* coins in my collection, and plus other duplicates/unofficial and some foreign ones. I actually have a handwritten list of every official coin in my collection and I add one to the list if I get a new one. Also, they are categorized...now you must think I'm a neat freak. lol
Good luck with the move/new job!
