This coin seems to be Sear# 1760, issued in the name of the junior emperor Romanus I (920-944 AD). The four lines of Greek-Latin text on the reverse reads: "+RWMA/N EN ThEW BA/SILEVS RW/MAIWN", which translates to "Romanus, by grace of God, King of the Romans". Apparently these coins are quite common; Sear says they "appear to have been issued in great quantities". Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

I just checked and found out I have one just like it, in slightly worse condition, that I paid AU$15 for in 2005.
