Often at estate auctions there will be on or more bags or boxes full of everything that I believe came from a coin collectors center desk drawer. Literally, coin books, magnifiers, pens and pencils, coin albums and yes, misc. coins. They typically sell for next to nothing and are great fun going through. I just finished going thru one such box and there were these pieces in the bottom. Well here they are: Image: img033.jpg51.81 KB Image: img034.jpg32.93 KB I sure would not had the patients. Jim

GO, using a scanner so that would be pretty hard. If I can get the wife's camera from work I will try. I had not looked at it until you asked, but it is smooth or nearly so. Now I wonder if it might have been cut with a laser. We had one for doing finite cuts at a company I worked at yrs ago. Jim

I have to admit, I find it very intriguing and keep messing with it on the desk while reading the forum. I don't think I would ever get rid of it. Heck, I may have the only one in the world. Jim

I see the left side of the coin as an AU the center as an EF 40 and the right as an AU . I think you should submit it to PCGS its a rare cookie cutter die error . either that or send it to me ,, and let GO go fish ! Since I'm the only one who took the time to grade each piece !

Well I created an economic flow chart of the impact of the destruction of this particular piece on the coin market.
just didn't realize I had to show my work professor
and besides...I cheat at GO fish

Maybe I should submit it as a "Piece of Three" instead of Eight. Jim

Ah...some rare fractional coinage. Put it on ebay, I think it could be a winner.
