I don't know any of the technical details of photography so I just play with lights and the buttons until I get something that looks like what I am trying to take a picture of. I know the lower ISO the better. But I also know I live less than a mile form a major hwy and railroad. I can see the image shake so the faster the shutter speed the better :-).
Anyway I have been trying to get a good picture of this coin for almost a year.
I think I did it.

Beautiful picture of a beautiful coin. One of the best strikes I have seen on a 2 cent'er - especially "In God We Trust".

I like your photo and the really nice 2 cent piece... fyi - I uploaded your 1st photo into Google Picasa 3 and selected the auto lighting adjustment tuning option/adjustment - below is the result with its modifications of highlights & shadows.

What camera/cell phone are you using for your photo?

Cancel my question on what camera you are using - the histogram/camera info for the image indicates a Canon EOS Rebel T2i - 1/8s shutter, focal lenght 100m f/14.0, ISO 100

Wow what a great 2 cent piece (& photo)!
