As some of you know, I'm collecting just the keys for the entire small cent series (1856-present).

What other dates/mintmarks are considered "key dates" aside from what I already have ? I'm not collecting errors, overdates or varieties yet. (DDO, overdates, RPMs)

Flying Eagle:
1856

Indian Head:
1877
1909-S

Lincoln (Wheat reverse)
1909-S
1909-S VDB
1914-D
1931-S

What else is missing ?

Wheat:

1922 No D, Weak D
1924 D
1931 D
1910 S - 1916 S

I guess these might be considered Semi-key dates.

You already have all of the expensive key dates. Once you move onto varieties, the 1922-Plain and the 1955-DDO are the biggies.

Here are the semi-keys for you:

Thanks for the link Mahgobbi !
I may dive into the varieties next, or move to the semi-keys, or take a break from cents and concentrate on my dollar type set... decisions, decisions.

With IHC, I'd consider 08S to be semi-key, along with 64L, 66, 67, 69, 70, 71, 72. But I guess this gets to be too many. If I had to focus on keys for IHC, stick with 77 and 09S. If you want to go with keys and semi-keys, the list gets to be a lot longer.

Just curious. Are these all slabbed? In 2x2's? So what is wrong with attempting to have a complete set?

The 1856 FE and 1877 are slabbed (bought it that way). The 1909-S VDB and 1914-D are being certified with ANACS as we speak. The others will probably gets slabbed on my next round of submissions. Just doing it for authentication and ease of selling if I ever plan to do so. Too many fakes out there.

Why I don't collect the whole series ? Too impatient, I guess. Too many little pieces so I just collect the most important.
