muenzhandung_pfeiffer 162022923960 Opinions? A coin like this, if genuine, would be $2,500-$3,500 or more. I don't like the size or position of the date. This seller has an interesting mix of other coins, and is based in Germany.

Are there any genuine varieties of this coin with the tip of the "1" so close to the point of the bust? I agree that the date is very different from the coin on the right; I'm just not sure if there are other varieties that are a closer fit.

On the coin in question, besides the date....

The eye is different
The pitch of the nose is different
The mouth is different
The chin is different
The space between the curl and the ear is different
The denticles are different

It's like a whole different coin. Not that I am an expert, but I would suspect it was counterfeit.

Suspect, but I am leaning towards whizzed and polished.

If this is a fake, it is a pretty good one. If this is genuine, then perhaps it has been whizzed and/or polished.

This wouldn't explain the date. So maybe there are 1864 IHC (c-n) dies with the date in a very different position.

The length of the denticles above STATES ... ?

I saw this one and called it genuine, but whizzed.

Wow, if this is a fake, it's another really good one.

Current bids are only $51.00, so perhaps many potential buyers don't believe it is genuine.
