This coin has nice notching on IGWT. Most noticeable is the R in TRUST and the G in GOD. The tops of the N in IN are notched too. I can't identify it bc there is only refrence picture for WDDO-001 which mine is not. CONECA has their doubled dies in progress for Ikes at the moment. I welcome your feedback and help in identifying this DDO. Thank you.

The maybe just very minor MD. The overall shape of the mint mark is not affected. If it were hub doubling, it probably would be listed. It is telling me you eye is trained in on what to look for, you just haven't found the right coin yet. Keep looking they are out there. One of the first clues I look for on doubled die is enlarged devices. Some years normally have larger devices than others, so often you have to compare one coin with another from the same year. TO find a quick reference for the what certain year looks like, check out HeritageCoins. Use them because they have large images and I can get a closer look at some areas of the coin to see what is normal and what is not. Here is a known DDO on the Motto of a quarter. With their images I was able to look and see what they look like: Note how much larger the devices are? Note the notchings? Note in order to see the notching from hub doubling, how much larger the other devices could be. I have some doubled die coins that show notching, but they are still too minor to list. (so they rest in my collection for now) But when searching, include the look for enlarged devices. On the example I posted, not the space between the devices. It is so small. The hub doubling enlarges the devices and reduces the size between the devices. Hope this helps in your search. Again your eye is there, you just haven't found the right coin yet. (I know it takes a lot of patience...)

Thank you Coop. It is a worn coin, so the devices aren't in great shape. I agree that devices on hub doubling should be larger. I think this is a minor DDO with a very close spread and just some notching with no noticeable enlargement.

Thats funny coop posted that coin, because I bought an example of that die a while ago. Anyways, MS70Error5, you will find something great. Also, what ever happened to the DDR nickel you found, did you ever send it to wexler?

Oh, and also, the coin is not a DDO, it is just some damage

Oh that's cool. Thanks Dustin. Since it is a damaged die and not PSD, is it a sought after coin? Is there a premium for it bc a specific die is known to look like this? As for the nickel I am going to get better pictures then email Mr. Wexler. I plan to do it this weekend.

Coop, when you search on Heritage do you search by coin type and a specific error? Or by listing numbers? Just trying to learn the quickest and most efficient way to do things when it comes to coins. Thanks!

Depends. If I need a certain year of coin, they have very large images. Some as large as 3000 pixels. So they work good for some educational education for myself. Currently I'm working on 1799 Dollars and $10 gold coins. When coins were created then, each die was built from scratch. There were hub for different things like the bust, the stars, individual date punches, stars, Eagles and other things. So they were created on each die then. That is why there are Overton numbers for each die. On the 1799 $10 Gold coins I've determined there were 4 different reverses I've found so far. The location of the eagles were different compare with the stars on the reverse and two different Eagles. On the 1799 dollars I found 11 different locations of the Eagle in the star pattern. (all the same eagle though on this series) You can search for doubled dies, error coins and often when you search for a year/mint mark. they will all show up in the same search for that year. I find it very helpful to get the image I need quickly. (I always credit them for the images when I post them)
