Quote: What's your take on this coin spp, if you'd care to speculate? Without the coin in hand, and being able to test the surfaces, I don't want to speculate at all.

The video you showed previously on the Canada flags 25c coins is the Winnipeg facility. The pad printing for these coins is done in Ottawa, using this machine. Something completely different, and definitely not a high-speed production (yes, I have seen it in action).

I did it. I really learned something new today: "How to unsubscribe from a topic."

Thanks, yes I wasn't presuming the NCLT process to be quite so high speed as circulation coin. I think the point I was trying to make is RCM's technology in producing NCLT is high tech as opposed to a manual application of paint or gold-plating.

Either as mentioned take the long drive to Canadian Coin and Currency in Richmond Hill or ask our moderator if he is willing to zap this coin for you.

I hear you John100 that would be the next step to take right now because I do beleive its an authentic coin and I dont want to leave it in the bottom of my dresser.I got from the post office and they got it from the mint to me its has to be a mint error.

Page 7 CCCS wrote: Hello everyone! First of all, to the best of my knowledge there has been no fake CCCS holders reported. In the case of this coin, contact have been attempted with the Mint with the usual no success result. This coin is in our opinion genuine and the "Mint Error" is the fact that it is Selectively Gold Plated but on the coin from the $99 set. Since space is limited we decided to just add "Mint Error" Now I will not enter in a long debate about this post. CCCS is the only company doing errors and most varieties and we will never please everyone. If you want to help CCCS send us material to be certified. Louis Chevrier CCCS

Look familiar? This coin in these photos was sitting in a nice sunny window of a coin shop in Toronto for six months... according to the shop owner, it was not toned when he originally put it in the display case. The coin now resides in another dealer's collection. As for the original poster's coin, and CCCS's opinion for that matter, I remain unconvinced...

I will happily test it for you with the research-quality XRF I have in my lab. There is no charge for this, other than that you pay for the shipping costs and that you agree the results are shared publicly. I realize you only have 21 posts and you cannot send messages yet, but if you want me to test this coin - just reply in this thread asking me to send you a personal message.
