I think quite a few people here have a strategy of continuously updating and improving their collections, so having a few placeholders can also be seen as a good thing: it means that you'll have something to look forward to and work with in the future. CoinMom4, a few years ago I met a woman in my neighborhood that did almost the same thing when she was a kid. She and her brother took her father's IHC collection to buy candy.
