It looks like a near 6 that has a damaged top of the 6 giving it the look of a Far 6... But I just want to hear from everyone else in case I'm wrong here.  |

How about far 6 that the damage has made the 6 appear closer.

I don't know...The tip of the "6" is generally more parallel to the leaf on a far but the shape seems correct. It could be the slant. I'd say far.

On a 'far' six, the top of the 6 is always tipped a bit to the left, this one looks like someone has taking a bit of the 6 off.

That is a far 6. An easy way to tell is to draw a line from the tip of the one across the top of the 2. If there is space between the line and the loop of the 6, it is a far 6. If the line touches the loop, it is a near 6.  |

I've always used an imaginary line drawn across the bottom of the 2 as shown in the photos. After a while you get accustomed to I'Ding them this way and it becomes instinctive. I favour this way because someone can play around with the tip of the six but they can't move the bottom. Cheers, Bill   |

So based on the bottom line to determine if it's a near or far, my feeling is it's a near.
