This was part of my late father-in-law's collection and we could never figure out what is up with the apparent chrome plating on one side. Any thoughts?

when I compare your coin to my coin. there is slight differences. you need to take a close look at your coin. particularly. the letter N in cents plus the shape of the C in cents as well. as for the coating. I think some one may has coated it. I have been seeing lots of coins. that people have coated lately.
