This is what ebay has come to... starting with over 7500 results for '1 oz silver bar', I have to butcher the advanced settings to THIS EXTENT to get actual 1 oz silver bars.

Honestly-It's-Almost-Sad....

By the way, all this butchering brought it down to 52 results....

I just go to categories/ coins and paper money/ bullion/ silver/ bars

Then refine to U.S. only. Choose a style; "buy it now" or "auction", then enter price range. $15 to $19 for example.

I can then sort by price for BIN or ending soonest for auctions.

It helps when you know Exactly what you want and how much you're willing/ expecting to "reasonably" pay for.

The thing against narrowing down on a few of those specific parameters is that you actually may miss a few true bargains.

Otherwise, yes, it's sad and one of the reasons why I don't buy on ebay. And even some of the 52 listed may be fake, though.

What a difference a decade or two makes..

When I joined ebay in June 1997, they were the "Gold Standard" of new online Auctions, by 2006 all my ebay related accounts had been hacked into, resulting in my closing my ebay Coin Store and only making purchases..

Now, in 2016, the buyer must be educated in what they bid/buy & tiptoe through all the fraudulent listings..

I recently started posting fraudulent listings here on CCF, and bobby131313 does one heck of a job in getting ebay to remove their listings..

For sure, the value of ebay for numismatic purchases has declined greatly.

However, it is increasingly a great source for discounted modern merchandise like clothes. I got a few electronic scales a few years ago that cost me peanuts, and still work well.

Agree there are some terrific bargains out there, and I think even in coins if you have the time to search.

Finding actual auctions is the tough part. Auctions used to be what kept me searching. Now my email alerts are the same coins over and over week after week and month after month.

I've branched into tokens again just to be able to enjoy adding something to my collection occasionally.

Thank goodness for Heritage and Great Collections.
