For those of you who search bank boxes, have you noticed a trend towards copper hoarding? The reason I ask--I just went through a whole box and did not find a single pre-'82 copper Lincoln. These must be getting mechanically separated by weight. On the other hand, it sure helped me focus on finding a '92-D Close AM (but no luck as of yet, lol)

I just ordered 6 boxes from my bank. Even if I don't get to them till a year from now I wanted to get them while there is still copper circulating.

I keep every Pre-1983 I get in change. I examine the 1982's later, of course. I have no intention of melting them, legal or not. Actually, on the contrary, I am hoarding them for the time when they become scarce after the inevitable melting frenzy!

jbuck, yeah...LOL. I'll wait for the inevitable refined "copper bullion" and get them for spot price if it ever comes to that! Copper is a cool metal, but I'm not going to waste my time with hoarding. Give me one 1999-S Close AM Lincoln over bags full of copper cents!

I keep all pre 83 cents from bank boxes and $50.00 bags from star tellers at grocery stores. The employees are more than glad to sell them to me and handle cash instead of heavy bags of cents. I've found serval wheaties but no varieties.

Yea, seems like the FEDS are melting them down, and at the same time telling us we can't! Talk about hypocrisy...

I haven't had any trouble finding copper cents. I picked up another box today. Maybe if I get motivated enough I'll count up the copper to zinc ratio.

I recommend holding on to them even after its legal for us peasants to melt them. After a "Great Melt", all the survivers, expecially does in nice shape, will be pretty rare. Then sell them

I haven't had much time to go thru pennies, but when I do I have been getting about 10-15 or so coppers per roll on average. Based on what I'm reading here, I'd better pick up the pace with pennies (but I'm too busy with nickels and halves!!)
