Does anyone know what will be on the reverse of the quarter after the US territories are minted?

Will they resume with the eagle?

I would hope that there would be a new reverse eagle design and a totally new obverse.

I just hope against hope that they don't do a forward-facing portrait of George Washington. I'm sure they will do a different reverse, but no designs have been released yet. You can bet on two things however:

1. It will have George Washington on it (God forbid should we switch things up a little) and
2. It will probably be ugly, in the vein of recent mint designs such as the Jefferson nickel and everybody's favorite Presidential dollar Coin Series.

I heard somewhere that after we finish the states, we are going to move on to include coins with puerto rico and other territories. Don't know if it is true though...

Yeah, the territories and d.c. program is definately going to happen (the bill was passed). In the text of the original message, the OP asks what is coming after the territories and d.c. program.

I have not heard of any legislation regarding the quarter in 2010. I believe if nothing is done the eagle returns as the origional bill stated the Eagle reverse would be discontinued until the end of the program.
They have a year plus to work on it.

Hopefully the Flanagan design will be retired and they will use Laura Gardin Fraser's original design from 1931

I really like that portrait of Washington. Of course, if it got in the hands of today's Mint, they'd find a way to steamroll away the relief. Sorry...not too impressed with US coins of late.

maybe after the major us territories they'll do the minor ones like wake and midway, theres like 10 or 11 of them so they could add two more years to the program if they really wanted to

Those islands are all uninhabited and they all pretty much look the same. Sure, some important WWII battles took place on them, but I think it would be difficult to come up with unique designs for each one.

Since we're on this, I'm a little annoyed with the mint. I bought a box for proof sets from the mint which was supposed to hold 10 years worth. It was perfect, ten years for the State Quarters program, ten slots for sets. I put in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, it was looking great. Then they announced the "extra ones". Then they made the 2007 set with the Presidential dollars and the proof set doesn't even fit in the box anymore unless you split it into parts. Ugh!!

If you didn't guess, one of the main reasons I collect coins is that I like the orderliness. There's probably a name for this "disease".

After they have done the US territories, they'll then go on to countries the US has controlled, Cuba, Greneda, Nicaragua, Iraq, Afganistan and so on, perhaps even other war areas like vietnam, korea, europe WW1 & WW2, mexico and the like.

COIN101............

The Sacajewea Coin in 2009 will start to feature an accomplishment or something of importance as a contribution from Native Americans to the country........that could mean all different kinds of things I think.....many of course are not decided on yet and will debated endlessly before something is agreed upon each year.....and there will be many detractors too I'm sure.

Augsburger.........

I take it you'rE not the biggest fan of the United States, our coins, our policies, our leaders past or present......or it's people........hummmmm......welcome to our United States based coin collector forum anyway !
