Quote: I'm lucky if I can find anything that's not a D mintmark! On the bright side, is if all you can find are D mint coins, you have a better chance to find the copper D small date than someone that has to go through all those P mint coins.

The 2009 Copper cents weren't released for circulation, they were only sold in collector sets. They weigh 3.11 grams, just like other Copper cents.

I found one this morning. Not D Mint but I'm still super excited as it is the first one I've ever found! I'm pretty sure it's just zinc but I'll make sure to get it checked.

What screws people up is that according to the PCGS site there are EIGHT mentioned, the 7 we're used to and the Copper Proof S mint. Those are the Official coins issued by the mint in 1982. The one and only 1982D Sm Date copper was recently found and certified as a planchet error, not as "Mint issued"...remember tho, 1982S were NIFC...

I wish I'd find a 1982 D red spot free BU copper to complete my makeshift mint set.

I have a few 1982 no mint mark small date pennies that weigh 3.06 and another weighs 3.05. I take it that they are rare is that right ?
