Wow! What a set of National Bank Notes. I only own one ($50), and it doesn't even come close to the condition of these.

I am rarely unable to conjure up a superlative worthy of a post....but these are pure eye candy, so I am speechless and in complete awe

Why doesn't the PMG for the McKEESPORT 5 say serial number 1 on the card like the rest of them?

The earlier holders did not specify this. No big deal.

You know you have something truly special in your hands when you get a reaction like that out of Steve. Again, even in my pedestrian opinion, those are absolutely spectacular.

wow what a collection! I recall reading that when the switch to small size currency happened, an enterprising man convinced Col. Green to start collecting uncut sheets. The individual wrote to banks across the country, telling the bankers that he would buy the #1 sheets of $5's, $10's and $20's for a small premium over face. Quite a few took the gentleman up on this offer and monies were exchanged. This individual then sold them to Col. Green. After Green died in 1936 the executor of his estate advertised through the Federal Reserve banks that they were for sale. Unsold sheets were then cashed in at face value and destroyed. I may have some of the details wrong in my recollections but the gist of it is there. -MV
