I found this washed up on an OBX North Carolina beach shore. It looks to be a Peruvian escudo coin with an 8? on the back. It's in pretty rough shape but any ideas on more specific identification/value? Thanks!

Sorry, but it is - or was - a "pirate treasure coin", a replica of a Spanish colonial gold "doubloon" of the kind which you can buy in bulk from pirate-themed supplies stores. which someone buried, presumably as a game with their kids. The kids didn't find this one, and the salt water hasn't been kind to the pewter.

Here's a similar example someone found on a beach in the Bahamas.

Or sneak a few into dealers "50 cents each" boxes at coin shows.
