This 1884-O Morgan dollar has some interesting die clash, but I haven't nailed down the VAM yet. Sorry if the photos are a bit off, I took these using my proof-coin setup and these are not proof coins! I get the impression the photos don't do this coin justice. This is possibly gem, MS65. Unless the area around the ear is wear and not a reflection, then it would be AU58. The mint mark is not clear enough to show a re-punched VAM 6. There may be doubling on the date, but photo is not clear enough.

My eyeball grade is 64, light rub in the left obverse field and a bit of frost break on the cheek, I will do better pictures tomorrow :)

I'm going to say ms63 maybe 64 in hand, the marks come through as dark, more distracting maybe because the light in photos? Nice coin thanks for sharing

With that chatter in left obverse field and on cheek, I'm at 63 with an outside shot at 64.

New photos. This took a long time to actually accomplish.

Oh, in case anyone's curious, here's the stand/background/etc I finally was able to rig up. I also switched from 35mm with a shorter distance from the coin, to 55mm and a longer distance.

Thanks for the new photos. I didn't see evidence of a re-punched mint mark. ( VAM 6). But there does appear to be a slight doubling on the one and eights on the date, (doubled 18). As well as pitted die marks on the eights which was typical in this run. Congrats, it's real! Though I'm changing my grade to MS62 , maybe 63 . .

Blistering luster with a weak New O strike. 63 easily, shot at 64.

VAM-14 O/O Far Date with doubled feathers 3-7, as best I can tell under my scope. The heavy arced rightward-curving line is present inside the MM.
