Can't really tell for sure - when you enlarge the picture it is blurry and dark to tell. I could only guess die crack or scratch.

Seems to be something coming off the bottom of the E and going onto the rim - that's all I can see from those pictures.

took another pic of it....what I see is that the R is messed up....the I is messed up....the B is broken up on the bottom ...U id not completed on bottom and the S has I guess is Cud through the bottom of it. I will take or borrow someone's camera so I can get that view of it.

If you get a camera make sure it has a macro setting for close up's

And when you use the macro setting, make sure you either use a tripod, or figure out a way to stabilize the camera. Camera shake is compounded with macro.

Here are some to look at: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/usb-microscope

Try to get one that allows you to turn off the lights.

You still have to fuss with them to get a decent picture, but they are great for those close-up pics.

I can't turn the lights off on mine, but I put wax paper over the LED's to reduce the glare. I get the best pics when I place the coin on a surface that will not reflect light and different colored backgrounds will affect the color of the coin.
