Hello, was wondering if you would give me your opinion on this 1987 P Dime. It looks to me like a double die but not sure. On the word Liberty and on the reverse E. PLURIBUS.UNUM some of the letters look double.

Also looks like a lot of cud on the last letter of America. And it appears the word DIME looks puffy.

Just your thoughts please.

Thank you

I don't think so. Looks like the devices were worn/flattened through circulation.

That is the product of an overworked, worn and over polished die(s). When the dies are polishes the devices become shallower and wider. That coupled with late die state metal flow moving outwards causes devices to stretch out as well. Just an exceptionally worn die pair, both sides affected.

LDS = late die state, or even VLDS.

VLDS. The devices are showing so much wear that they are starting to distort in shape. (Tend to get wider the closer they are to the rim area)

I don't think it's a double die.
