skbshad New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 10/17/2017 3:24 pm Hello, I have been unable to identify this coin that I received from my late grandfather 20 years ago. It has tested positive for gold but has no writing an only the faint pictures on the front and back. I have no idea where he acquired it as he traveled frequently. I have always believed it to be from Central or South America but have no clue. Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 10/17/2017 4:24 pm Best guess is an anonymous, post-Alexander issue from Macedon: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/gree...ymous/i.html I've only seen that design used on silver and bronze, and nothing approaching 13g. Gold in that era was mostly confined to the 8 gram stater, so this weight doesn't make much sense for a gold coin. I suspect it might be a fantasy. Hopefully a Greek expert can chime in!
