Two common methods for making a copper coin silver-colored are plating and coating in mercury. I might put the '62 in a 2x2 wearing gloves and keep that coin there.

I've enjoyed your presentations. Although I don't collect this genre myself, your enthusiasm and photos have been educational and fun. So you know, the owner of the largest collection of C/s in the world, Rich Hartzog, recently passed. His brother plans to sell the collection via ebay. There are over 8000 unique pieces. Rich had planned a C/s book, but didn't finish past New York. He was a source of history and education for many genres. I dedicated my Illinois chapter to him. Rich will be missed and his collection will be dispersed. He had C/s back to 1796 for US. |
