I found this 1982-D Lincoln Small Date which appears to be a Horizontal 2 that was performed at the mint. The base and curvature of the 2 is clearly visible. I understand there's zinc rot but you have to look past it and realize that the position of the shifted 2 in the Date is truly one of a kind that I have never seen before. The number 8 appears to be higher in height than the number 1 and number 9. Also the D Mint Mark appears to be a larger size. Has anyone ever seen this type of error and have any images similar to this and would like to share? Any thoughts? Thanks.

This would be an impossible error to occur at the mint. The date is part of the master hub, from which all the dies are eventually made. The mint stopped hand punching individual digits sometime around the late 1800's or early 1900s. This is just an example of zinc rot making something look like something else.

Spendable coin. PSD A lot if imagination used on something that can not happen. The numbers have not been punch into the individual dies for over 100 years. So that thought should not even be considered, it just can't happen.
