I was wondering what my 1984 P LMC "Doubled Ear" DDO would grade at? I found it from my bank in a circulated roll. Also, what would be the current or estimated value for this? I do not want to send it in to be grade by a TPG service because it will cost a fortune and it will be much cheaper to be it unslabbed and raw. I am not doing this to show off, I am doing this because I am curious about the grade and value.

AU-58 red and brown. ANACS will slab it and not charge you a fortune. Get it in a holder before it gets misplaced.

Thank you westernsky for your input. I have it in a non PVC coin flip and it's in my coin collection album.

The full coin pics are a little dark, but I would say a bit lower. Maybe AU-53 to -55 and, obviously, RB if not BN. It's a fantastic roll find!

I agree with you that it is not worth sending to a TPG. In BU, yeah, but not circulated. The value may top out at $20.

Thank you spruett for your great input. I am thinking it's in the lower AU grade range as you stated. The darkness on the reverse was caused by a stain from being in circulation for a little bit. Probably most likely sticky residue got on it.

I did notice the stain, but that shouldn't really affect the technical grade.

I think AU55 and I would not bother with a TPG. I would put it in a hard plastic holder,Air-Tite or similar.

Since I have money to blow (NOT), I sent one off for grading recently. Haven't got it back yet but I'll have $23 into the coin.

AU-55/58. Do not send to TPG. Just store it carefully.

Thank you shotgung and SilverDollar2017. I will not send it in to a TPG to get it graded. If it was Uncirculated or Brilliant Uncirculated, then it would be worth sending it in. I have it stored it carefully in a non PVC coin flip.

That sounds about right, probably around that type of grade. Thank you for your opinion BadThad! It helps me a lot.

PCGS MS62 brown slab it slab it and put it on the block. No way eh? I wouldn't sell it either its a killer find. Never found one but the grubby little 1997 doubled ear I found is worth about $30.00 but I wouldn't budge except maybe $125.00. All of them are just so dang hard to find I keep them as spoils of war. Great score.
