When I first saw this on the bey, it was pretty dark and dirty but I knew what it was! so bought it dirt cheap and once in hand gave it a long Acetone bath. Majority of the grime came off and the coin started looking really good, noticed one thing right away though, inside the square trench around the date and the MM it toned and picked up a bluish color!!
Any how it is a pretty cool Lamination, I am wondering what happened around the date are showing that square raised metal frame to the East and south,BTW the incuse area around the date and MM is pretty deep!

I agree, it is an unusual one with the almost square area by the date fallen out!!

Could it possibly be a folded over partially retained lam from another planchet struck through on this one?

If that was the case would the metal still be missing from around the 9,6, and D ?

Almost looks like someone tried trimming off the lamination. There is a mysterious mark on the top of the '0' and one on the right side of the '6'. It almost looks like a strap of folded over (or two ends) of copper debris was struck with the coin then peeled off, leaving an indented area on the whole coin. If both pieces were all there, the value would have been even higher. Sometimes best to leave the lamination area intact.

Awesome Lamination! Congratulations! That's a very good example. You must be proud to own it.

This is an odd nice one. Is it possible a prestrike lam from the back shoulder popped off, slip over and struck through over date?

I'm thinking prestrike lam on the back shoulder, because of the weakness showing near opposite it seems present on the reverse.

Watch the remaining section as it could pop anytime in the future. Thanks, Doug.

I'm thinking a pre-strike folded over debris was in the chamber. Where it was folded over, it peel off with the two were two layers. The single layer area (over the coat) remained in place. Just where the folded over areas were, peeled off. That is my thought.
