Why is it that you see the old copper clipped planchet cents but the newer zinc cents you never find? Just found the below one tonight. Thought it was a rather odd find. I think that is actually a double clip. I think that there was a smaller clip about the three o'clock position on the obverse. I looked through ebay sold listings and the newest that I saw was a 2001 and I am not sure if it was a true clip. Still Lookin

Triple clip? 11 o'clock on the obverse as well. That's Blakesley effect, my bad.

Really cool find.

11 o'clock is the Blakesley effect I do believe on the larger clip.

Incredible find! Finding Clipped Planchets on newer LSC's are a lot rarer than finding them on Copper planchet cents! Very nice Clip.

I'm not sure of the exact terminology or how it happens but it looks legit! Very nice find!

Has to be legit because the clipped portion is plated as well.

I thought of that too, but it still happens. It's just not very many of them actually escape from the U.S. Mint. Most of the time, they get caught and detected, then the U.S. Mint cancels them so they can get recycled. Definitely rare to see this error escape from the U.S. Mint.

I found it in a $50 bag of cents that I picked up from the bank on Saturday morning.

I didn't think incomplete planchets escaped the mint anymore. Nice find.

That's a rare sight, indeed. Very nice!

I also agree that there is a small rim clip north of the larger one.

Nice! I will say that it is indeed double clipped, and exhibits the Blakesly effect.
