I'm a newbie. I want to send a post to a forum on Eisenhower dollars varieties and errors currently, can't find such a forum. I just keep going in circles. So I will introduce myself. I'm a 72-year-old female former computer programmer, worked for CSC for 26 years, contracted to the FAA. Mainly worked on writing programs which protected airplanes from various collision situations. I've inherited my father's coin collection, he was born in 1907. I've been searching it for what to sell for about 2 years. And I somehow started being a cherry picker, no specific coin. I've learned a lot, but it's never enough. I found some rare coins I'd like to ask questions about. My dad had many types of coins, all in the safe deposit boxes. About my Blue Ike - it's in the safe deposit box. (I have 2 knees that need to be replaced, one soon, and my SUV is in the shop right now.) Not positive of the year, I think 1971 or 1972. I have more than one Blue Ike. I know you will want a photo, but I just can't do that right now. The Blue Ike is still in the packaging and in the cellophane. The reverse sure looks like an error to me. It's as if a ray gun pointed at the Eagle from outside the coin, at around the 4 o'clock position, has shot the Eagle with many fine rays. They almost reach the Earth device. I've done a lot of searching on the Internet and have found no other coin like it. I will send a photo as soon as I get to the Bank and make good photographs of both sides. It's very easy to see. Is it rare? I want to get it graded, but no idea how much insurance. I know this isn't the correct place to post this question, would someone please explain where exactly to post this and how to do that. The Help is not helping me. Thank you!! *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

The blue Ike's/are 40% silver coins, are MS grade business strikes, a few varieties but nothing of substantial value. I've just bought three, all for less than $10 each. You explanation sounds like a toning or corrosive damage. Sadly, the Blue Ike's suffer from spotting, milky dull surfaces due to improper rinse at the mint, this further reduces collector value. A clear, shiny Ike, now ya have something. Post your pix, we can help you appraise and advise.

The Blue package Ikes I got had the haze from the cello packaging - a soak in acetone and a distilled water rinse took off that haze and they looked beautiful! Here's a pic of a page with a few in it!

Quote: Oh, those are nice Mark! Thanks Tom, jbuck got me started on collecting Ikes and I filled the Dansco with top quality Eisenhower's. I got to admit - it is a beautiful album and was easy to put together. Hardest part was finding spot free Ikes.

First, , justglass88 to the forum. 40% silver Ikes are worth about $15 in Mint State of Proof conditions. So you would need to sell lots of them to pay for your car's maintenance bills. The fastest way to get honest values for your coins is to post pics. There are some real experts here! Good luck~
