Hi-Ho! Krazy Kermit here!

Okay so for "fun" I went to 3 on-line coin shops to compare what it would cost to buy all Quarters from 1999-2017 both P&D mint.

Here is the breakdown:

Littleton: $198.00 for complete state; $33.95 for Territory & $160.00 for National Parks. Grand total= $391.95

Village: $125.00 for complete state; $19.20 for Territory & $229.00 for National Parks. Grand total= $373.20

Colonial Acres: $87.85 for complete state & Territory then $94.95 for National Parks. The National Park cost even covers all future quarters in the series. Grand total= $182.90.

Now my questions off this comparison, can anyone guess or know why the prices differ so much. Also, can someone provide a link or two to some eBay sales that may compare to the type of coins I'be be getting above.

Again this is all hypothetical for now. Just for fun but education as well!

Thanks!

Kermit

The grade range PLUS the eye appeal from one set to another may not compare, even for modern issues.

A bright set from mint sets will average considerably better grades and eye appeal. Coins pulled from circulation or bank rolls/bags may be BU with an occasional AU with notable problems.

Thanks moxking!

So are you thinking that Littleton may be a "better quality" of coin?

Littleton also is known for higher prices. They have made a business basically with mostly new level collectors who end up spending way too much for what they get. Although every once in awhile they have a good special that is actually not bad.

As to eBay links, just go there and type " State Quarter set" in the search bar and you likely will find what you are after.

As stated often in the past, I am not a fan of Littleton's approach to the hobby, but I will say that their quality is consistently high.

If you can wait until you have enough post. I have a lot of extras both state and parks picked from rolls. Face plus shipping. I pulled these just for this reason helping out the New collectors.

Littleton is just way to high on everything. And they send you stuff even if you don't want it.

Again, try going old school and pick up a folder and start "filling holes," from circulation. Bank roll searching is very "zen"

I agree with Kurrency Ken. Start off filling holes with coins you've found in circulation. It will be a lot cheaper that way.

Just throw this out there: Here is a quick eBay search for the exact terms you specified (discarding PCGS and NGC). There are two matches, about $97 and $124.

And here are listings from Dave's Collectible Coins with two separate runs for the state and ATB Quarter runs (missing the 2009 territories) for $61 each. I've bought from him before, generally good quality.
Working on: Peace dollars (two to go), US type (Bust era), Chinese pandas, and San Francisco tokens.
