Came across this coin and would like feedback on the excessive metal I see on it.

Die chips. There is no excessive metal The planchet starts out with the weight it is supposed to have and the metal just moved around on the die. So the chip is not extra metal, just the amount it started off with.

Very cool. A die chip in between the B and E of LIBERTY, hence nickname BIE. Yours is considered a full BIE.Very nice.

Nice find, that die chip between the B and E is called a "BIE".
