1979 D LMC damaged or error coin possible lamination?

I found this 1979 D LMC and the date is partially legible with surface damage or possible lamination. What do you think? Error or no big deal?

It's a damaged coin. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). It can be safely spent.
Errors and Varietys, the CCF 911 responder and helper. ;-)
