Washington Quarters / Good Buy Or Not?

SpringCypress Pillar of the Community United States 666 Posts	Posted 07/12/2008 10:24 am I was at a local coin shop and was getting ready to leave when I ran across an album of Washington quarters. It was complete from 55-D on with 19 MS-63 or higher coins. The album itself was one of the new H.E. Harris folders. Price Tag = $100 I bought it for $90. This was a fairly good deal wasn't it? I don't know that much about Washington quarters... I have a complete set, but they're all well circulated examples that I was able to pull from the junk bins years ago... As of yesterday's close, silver content of quarters is $3.38/each and you paid $4.74/each. My latest Coin Prices magazine shows most quarters in that date range at $4.60/each so if you are at 63+ then I would say it's a decent deal. Report this Post to the Staff

SpringCypress Pillar of the Community United States 666 Posts	Posted 07/12/2008 6:39 pm All 19 are quarters are MS63 or higher... They might all be 63. I didn't look at them under a loupe. Visually none had any defects visible to the naked eye. No bag marks in any of the fields... Fair amount of toning which means they had been stored in a different album before being tranferred to the new Harris folder. My reasoning went like this. Spot Value of the silver = $65 Price of the album new = $25 Total = $90 Since I knew they were all at least 63 I figured there might be some numismatic value... I'll take a pic when I get home... might be easier to judge that way. Report this Post to the Staff
