Iv'e got one an would like to have it verified. Are there any others out there. As said pics to follow, sorry for that part. Yes it is 3.1 Grams an a scuff of the edge is the same yellow through.

Congrats on 1000 posts!!

There are no brass coins of that weight (plus or minus .3 grams), that were minted by the RCM in the early 1970s... 3.1 grams is still within weight tolerances of a normal cent. Are you sure this is not a high-school science experiment?

Certainly not a high school experiment. The colour is right in hand for yellow brass off metal. also be it brass or what ever composition it is, this one is not common based on research

I'd love to see this go out with a bang, So SPP you wanna xrf it?

I filed the edge more and it is the same yellow brass color, it will be shipped to SPP by the wknd.

lol I should have elaborated, with an emery board equal to about 220 grit, an area approx 1/8 on the edge........hardly visible to the eye without a loupe.

SPP did receive the coin, but has not xrf'd it as of yet, it is out on loan.

Today the results were in the mailbox ty to SPP(Roger) Cu%38.07, Sn%0.18, Zn%0.22, Au%61.15, Roger also added a Christmas Bonus of 2 early 1940's error pennies, ty. 3.19 Grams at the weigh in lol
