1944 P Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC , Could This Be A Doubled Die Obverse / DDO ?

tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6116 Posts	Posted 02/24/2019 7:12 pm Could easily be one of the mild class 6 dies for that date. The wider tail of the 9 is often what first catches the eye, but take a close look at the E of WE to get a better idea. If the lower horizontal bar of the E has a distinctly triangular pointy-up tip then you're on to something. Doesn't mean it's a listed variety, but tells you there is at least some doubling going on. 1DR-007 has a really obvious die chip behind the nape of the neck, which is more characteristic than the other markers.
