Hello from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. I'm a 57 year old that has re-entered the world of Coin Collecting. I collected in my Teens and Early 20's. Sold my collections back then to get by. Now I've started over. I am working on cents through quarters that were minted in the 20th century. In other words, Barbers for instance were minted across centuries, so I collect them. Washington quarters run into the 21 Century, so I'm collecting them. I collect half dollars and silver dollars when presented with deals. I do this because I know that it's something I'll want later. I eventually want collections of all standard issue coinage from 1850 to present or thereabouts. (NO GOLD) I started back in late November 2018 and have solid Indian Head cent, Lincoln Cent, Buffalo nickel, Mercury dime, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter collections going. I have starter sets of Barber dimes, V-Nickels, Standing Liberty quarters, Barber quarters. Look forward to learning from those that know much more than I. Sincerely, Scott

Welcome from neighboring Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area). We're about the same age and I too have been collecting since 1974. My advice would come from my own experience, the many lapses in collecting (although I haven't sold any off over the years). Try sticking to a particular series until it's complete or near-complete. I've found this method to be the easiest to keep from losing interest. By doing so I have every Lincoln Cent back to 1938, nickels the same dimes back to 1886 (currently on the Seated Liberty), quarters to 1932 with only a 1930 and 1930s. Most of these completed in the last ten years or so.

Welcome to CCF and welcome BACK to coin collecting.
You picked a superb time to start collecting again, as prices for numismatic coins are at an excellent time to buy. Good luck with the hunt!

Welcome to the forum Scott! I mainly just lurk around the forums here but since I seen you where also from WV I figured I would say hello, what part of the state are you from? I live in mineral County.
