Depending on the light this seems more of a ridge, not a crack. Is this a variety? 1924 Penny with at least 4 different die cracks that I've found so far.
I'm a newbie so I don't know the lingo yet...

What I see in the pictures is not a ridge, but a step, one level lower, one level higher.

I don't know for sure,
but my guess is that the strip from which the blank was cut was not of constant thickness.

Its a die flaw.
Its not too hard to find other 1924 pennies with the same flaw.

Thanks John 1 and echidna. I suppose I can call it a 'die flaw'.
