I went there and found this but can't find any other places to look. This website says the run was reported at 250,000 at first then later reported at 3.2 million?

Get ready for this.

The BEP printed 2013 $1 New York star notes from both facilities, Washington DC and Fort Worth. This, in itself is not that unusual. The unusual part is they duplicated some serial numbers. You could, in theory have identical serial numbers on two different notes with the only difference being one was printed at the Eastern Currency Facility and one was printed at the Western Currency Facility.

Many collectors, including myself, are looking for a matching pair. An article was written in Paper Money Magazine (May/June 2019) by Ed Zegers discussing the details. Fascinating occurrence.

I'm not sure about the legal aspects, but star notes are replacement notes for misprinted or damaged regular issue notes. This occurrence I mentioned above is VERY unusual and the first time I can remember it happening.

So shouldn't this be a valuable star note since there is another bill somewhere out there with the same serial number? Especially if you found the matching number, wouldn't a pair with one having a star be worth a lot more than just a pair with the same numbers?

Not all 2013 $1 New York star notes were duplicated.

Unfortunately, your note serial number is NOT one of the serial numbers duplicated. Because of condition, I see no additional value above face value for your note. There's many available in uncirculated condition to meet collectors demand.

A pair of matching serial numbered 2013 $1 star notes have recently been found. One was printed in Washington DC and one in Fort Worth.
