Haven't been able to follow everything while I was away this summer so unsure if this one has been posted yet. Neat die crack through the date with what are small interior die breaks with one fully lost and two retained.

I'll send the link to JC and see if it's of any interest for Cuds-on-Coins.

That's awesome tropicalbats! Did you find this one? Looks like the die was failing prematurely, as it's only in MDS (Mid Die State).

Hi E & V, Yeah, I found this one in a regular old bank roll. But of note, having looked at many hundred of cuds and retained cuds, I find that it's not really true that the die needs to be older and worn for die breaks to happens. Many of them are on younger dies, and it is my belief that they occur when they occur based on the factors other than how many coins a die has struck.

Tropicalbats, I am starting to believe that too, since the Cuds I found were mostly on fresher dies.

That's a very nice one! I have seen this one before but can not recall where or when.

Very true. Alloy or annealing problems can cause early failure of metal pieces. During the Shield nickel / Two Cent Piece era, the dies would often start failing during initial use. Thus, all the wonderful die cracks on those issues.

Very interesting break on this cent.

The missing plating is form contact with other coins. Keep as much air off the coin as possible. It will last longer that way. (Air-tight holder?)

I hadn't thought to check the list of Unusual Die Cracks, but JC notes that this may be a later die stage of UDC-1C-2019-001. It certainly is close.
