Quote: Hey Joe , you've been attending coin shows recently ? A few weeks ago our small local monthly coin show re-started. About 50% attendance. Personally I was very cautious in maintaining as much distance as I could and the promoter was wearing a face shield and the vast majority of dealers and customers were wearing masks. Not sure if it is going to continue to be held since numbers are going up here in Ohio and getting to a point where stuff may start to close again.

I'm 16, youngest one here to speak on the thread! Been collecting for two years, this year I've been getting more hardcore into it. Honing my variety/error skills, learning as much as possible.

SilverCents! You are so young if I tear your leg out it would grow back... Sorry for the bad joke! Good luck for the collecting.

Must say, I turn 50 this year but will have another 18 years work before the government will let me retire so I certainly don't feel like I'm "nearing retirement".

Yes Gabibacsi I am indeed quite young! Leaves a lot of room for knowledge! Haha now I don't know about that but it's a possibility!

@SilverCents, you're actually the same age as I was when I started collecting. (I say that like it wasn't 2 years ago lol)

@GrapeCollects Wow very cool! I find it super cool that you also work at a LCS, wish I could do the same!

A lot of them have realized that our generation isn't as into coins as theirs, and that if someone wants to get into, has the drive and interest, that shutting them down is bad in the long run. The way I landed mine was by going in frequently, asking questions, expressing my interests and goals in collecting, and my drive to be a larger part of the numismatic community. Quote:I'm also 18 The dastardly duo! I do know of a few, and I mean a few kids in my area around my age who collect, about 3. 1 does world coins, 1 does Jefferson nickels, and the other does large size US currency and banknotes.

There is a LCS I go to now and again in Florida. It's one of those huge multi-million dollar stores, chalk full of everything, even bars of gold! I would love to work there. Whenever I start living with my Aunt and Uncle during College, I'll really be able to interact with the LCS at that point, rather than only 3 times a year (as I travel overseas with my parents). For the time being, my current "college" job to raise a bit of money would probably be at Publix. But, if I can get a job at that LCS, it'll be like a dream come true!

I turn the big six-oh in two weeks. I was casually collecting (mosty Buffalo nickels) in my late 20's - early 30's. Some life (or at least life style) changing things happened, and my collection went to the back shelf of the closet. Then this March, right before they closed everything down, I got a nice high AU 1942-P War Nickel in change. With all the down time from the virus, and the money saved from it, I dove back into collecting. The $1200 stimulus check didn't hurt, either!
