i have this piece, and I have tried to wash it and scrape it off and it has not went away. I thought maybe some tape and spray paint was the culprit. I am sure you guys know what may have happen to it.

Tape and something else was the culprit for the unusual toning here.

No no no..I didnt scrape it scrape it. Just used my finger nail when I first got it. I thought it was paint. Although its got that weird tone it is in to good of condition to scratch up.

Welcome to CC!

Taping coins into coin folding books is not uncommon.

The obverse of this coin is a perfect example.

Toning, more than likely, occurred from the printing ink or glue used in the folder this Morgan specimen was stored in.

And I didnt even think about it being taped to something for storage....

Hey a taped coin is better than having half dimes and 3c coins where some dunderhead drilled a hole in it hahaha. I have a few amazing coins that would've otherwise graded nicely except for the hole
